The mission of the South River Federation is to protect, preserve, restore and celebrate the South River and its interdependent living community. We believe in a holistic approach to cleaning up the South River. We utilize all available tools, ranging from scientific water quality monitoring, to rain garden installation, to large-scale stream restoration, to one-on-one landowner education. Our restoration efforts are locally focused and are driven and informed by sound science.
WHAT WE DO
The South River Federation is a grassroots watershed organization that has successfully completed dozens of restoration and outreach projects with many different local partners including state, local and private organization. The South River Federation enjoys a strong reputation as a sincere, dedicated, and scientifically driven organization. We manage approximately 70 active potential habitat and stormwater best management practices, 20-25 of which are implemented annually.
In the last five years alone, we have installed over 75 restoration projects across the watershed, varying from residential raingardens to multi-million-dollar stream restoration projects. Currently, we are concentrating our efforts on the most polluted creeks while continuing our work with communities on local projects.
